About Me

I'm a technical writer/documentation engineer with 10+ years experience. I specialize in documentation for developers, including CLI/API/SDK reference docs, tutorials, onboarding guides, installation/upgrade/migration guides, and conceptual overviews (the "what" and "why"). My experience runs the gamut from owning the entire documentation experience and codebase as a team of one, to managing larger, more established documentation teams.

As a technical writer, I value working closely with writers, engineers, product managers, support, and go-to-market teams to create documentation that meets the needs of users across all experience levels. I prefer (and advocate for) environments where documentation is seen as part of the product, and a feature isn't considered done until it's well-documented. I don't publish content that I haven't tested myself, which means I am always learning new tools and technologies. I think deeply about improvements to documentation workflows and processes, and have a strong aversion to anything that adds noise or overhead to people's days without providing clear value.

Outside of technical writing, I've also been a peer counselor at Empower Work since 2019. Empower Work is a nonprofit organization that provides free, confidential counseling for people experiencing workplace stress, burnout, and other challenges. As a peer counselor, I chat with help-seekers to acknowledge and validate their experiences, help them identify and articulate the core issue, and then coach them through putting together an action plan based on their goals. You can connect with a trained peer counselor by texting 510-674-1414.
